Grave-Reaping Hermit by Everlyn C. Thompson

Review | ARC ~ February 10th, 2024 - March 2, 2024

I rated this 4 stars, I didn't really make a review for this book originally but here's my review: Like all the books I read, don't let the time frame make you  think I didn't like this book. It was really good. If you like realism mixed with fantasy this is the book for you. It has fae, vampires, wolves, etc! I loved it.

Grave-Reaping Shrew by Everlyn C. Thomas

Review | ARC ~ March 2nd, 2024 - March 4th, 2024

I rated this book 5 stars, a lot more happened in this book versus the first book. It was more action packed. I was on the edge of my seat and it didn't take me long to read this book. Theodora's plot thickens a bit more in this book. I can't remember if it was this book or the next book but I believe she starts transitioning into a changeling.

Blurb:

After surviving a horrific attack by a dark fae, Theodora Edwards is happy to put the magical world of Fairie firmly in the past—until she learns the reason behind the abrupt disappearance of Farranen, the guardian of the gate. Unfortunately, her improvised rescue attempt ends in death—her death.
As if surviving death isn’t weird enough, her magic takes on a life of its own and starts creating flawed ghosts. While struggling to control her magic, she’s forced to deal with a deadly band of pixies, amorous advances from the intimidating dark prince, and political upheaval in Fairie that’s left the entire realm in chaos.

Grave-Reaping Guardian by Everlyn C. Thomas

Review | ARC ~ March 4th, 2024 - March 5th, 2024

In the last book of this triology everything gets wrapped up in a neat little bow. I kind of wish there was more to this story but alas, there isn't. Everything gets resolved. Theodora gets her happy ending, and all danger is gone. I loved it. I rated it 5 stars.

Blurb:

When the gate between Earth and Fairie blows up and traps Theodora Edwards in the mystical realm, she must work together with her guardian and the dark prince to locate and safeguard a magical key that powers the Light Court. While learning to properly use her fae magic, Theo is forced to fend off an abduction attempt by wraiths, locate a missing castle, tame a dragon king, and have a friendly chat with the dead queen.
But with all of Theo’s efforts going toward protecting those she loves, she struggles to find time to explore the possibility of a romantic relationship—and the insecurities that come with it.

Faker by L.A. Wayward

Review | ARC ~ March 5th, 2024 - March 6th, 2024

I rated this 4 stars. I really need to be better about writing reviews. So if I remember this plot correctly, the FMC got screwed over by her ex so she decided to go to a club to win back money she needed. Well she attempts to cheat and doesn't win and she was playing against the owner of the club so he gave her an offer she couldn't refuse she had to live with him for a month. The MMC ends up falling for her.

Blurb:

I’m f*cked.
What can you give the man who supposedly has everything?
There is only one option—
me.

Fake it till you make it, right?

That’s why I find myself sitting at a poker table in the middle of Seoul, South Korea, selling myself to the King of the underworld.

Ruthless and straight out of a mafia movie, heads roll whenever he walks into a room.

He’s the shadow people fear in the dark.

I’m the light he didn’t expect to find.

And maybe he’s the scarred monster I longed for all along.

Six rule this town, and he’s one of them.
He won me fair and square.
I’m now his.
And maybe after this month is over, every broken part of him is going to be mine.

And I’ll be his forever.

Faker is a dark romance containing themes that may be triggering to some. Please check the warnings inside the book. All characters are 18+

Review | ARC ~ March 6th, 2024 - March 15th, 2024

First of all, let me start off my review by saying how grateful I am that I got the opportunity to ARC read this book! I loved it! A perfect mix of The Hunger Games, Divergent and Matched. I loved the slow burn between Radar and Rae, the suspense, the sister bond, etc! Not to mention it gave me Fourth Wing vibes as well! The ending had my jaw on the floor I can't wait for book 2 to see where this all goes.

Cracked by Teshelle Combs

Review | ARC ~ March 15th, 2024 - March 16th, 2024

I am loving the Holiday Haters series! This is the third installment and I hope we get a crossover with Jack and Alexei cause that would be amazing! I loved everything about this novella! I love how feisty Stella is and how Grace brings her back down while also hyping her up! If you guys haven't already you guys should read the Holiday Haters series. You don't have to read them in order but it's fun if you have read the others before reading this one. I think this one was my favorite out of the three.

Blurb:

The Goddess of Spring And Earth is a high-powered attorney by day, slave to Odin by night, and nothing makes her happier than destroying prideful men. But when her boss demands she snatch a downtown property from the hands of a bright-eyed baker, Stella is caught in a classic romcom debacle. How can she crush the seductive sweetie under her red bottom heels by Easter if he smells like strawberries and tastes like cinnamon?

From the Holiday Haters Series, including Jack Frost’s A Christmas Story and our vampire prince Alexei’s A Valentine’s Story

The First Mate of Nemain's Revenge by McKenzie A. Hatton

Review | ARC | Book Tour ~ March 25th, 2024 - March 27th, 2024

This book was so good! Angelica is a beautiful, feisty pirate daughter and Joseph is a blacksmith's son, hellbent on getting his sword back from a pirate thief so he joins the navy. The adventure was amazing and everything I expected and more! I read this novella as a standalone but you can read the first book first as well! I can't wait to read more!

Blurb:

The fast-paced prequel to The Captain of Nemain's Revenge. Find out what the man was like before the pirate captain emerged through the eyes of his first mate.

Joseph Earhart knew only the swing of his hammer and the heat of the forge, forced to take on his father's occupation after the death of his family. He made the best swords on the island of Samsara, but he hated it. Smithing was in his blood, but not his heart, yet he couldn't leave the forge behind. That is, until a pirate took off with his most prized possession. He would do anything to get it back, even join the Minister's Navy.

Angelica relished in her new prize, that smithing shop had a beautiful sword on display that she couldn't keep her hands off. Though, even a prize like that could not lessen the blow of her father's disappointment. Captain Pike wanted many things, her marriage to the first mate on Macha's Demise, and most recently, the island of Kheli. Her fate was sealing before her and she needed to escape it before it was too late.

The naval officers on the island might just be the answer she'd been waiting for.

Alfie, Darling by Effie Campbell

Review | ARC ~ March 27th, 2024 - March 29th, 2024

Effie hit the ball out of the park again! We finally got a story about Alfie and it was amazing! Depending on who you are you may not want to eat lasagna again but other than that scene it was everything. Probably one of the best enemies to lovers story I've read in a while. We were introduced to Harriet and Petros and I loved them both. This was an amazing story about torment, healing and finding love at the end. You guys need to read it! Please read all the trigger warnings beforehand your mental health matters.

Blurb:

Revenge is sweet.

It’s time for Alfie to pay.

They’ll break him and make him confess. Then end him.

Unless he can use his clever tongue to give them a reason to keep him...

Alfie, Darling is a dark romance with three protagonists who do not have to choose between one another.

It Breaks Me by Penelope Sky

Review ~ March 30, 2024

This book was so good! I devoured it just like the first one this is one of the best mafia dark romance series I've read! I can't wait for book 3. I have no complaints whatsoever about this book! The tension, the love between Axel and Scarlett, the danger, everything was amazing! I couldn't put the book down. Penelope executed this perfectly well.

Blurb:

Axel betrayed me.

As hard as I tried to keep him out of my heart, he broke through it like shattered glass. Even though my father didn't approve and our relationship would always be a secret, I didn't care. He was worth it...until he wasn't.

Six months have passed, and that's exactly how long it's taken me to get over what he's done. I never see him at my father's estate. My father never mentions him. Like he never existed at all, he's wiped from the face of the earth.

Until my father tells me he's going to stab Axel in the back and replace him with someone new. I know what a mistake that will be, but my warning falls on deaf ears.

We finally come face to face for the first time. His ingenious plan knocks my father off his feet and he takes the business for his own. If my father wants it back, it's going to come at a price. A price that he won't have to pay--but I will.

And that's to marry him.

Heart of Wrath by Effie Campbell

Review ~ March 31st, 2024

This short story was amazing! A very dark, forbidden love romance with lots of gore and spice. It was a very enjoyable read. Before picking this book up as always please read all trigger warnings because your mental health matters. This is the first book from Effie I read that wasn't an ARC!

Blurb:

Emily's whole life has brought her to the brink.

No-one believes that a black-eyed demon killed her father, incarcerating her for her delusions instead. When he pins her to a wall and steals a kiss five years later, she falls down a dark rabbit-hole that leaves her killing the people who hurt her just to see her demonic paramour.

It's a dangerous game, and she can't resist play...

Heart of Wrath in a short, blood-soaked, paranormal novella.

Body Count by J.D. Midnight

Review ~ March 31st, 2024

This was a good short read! This is my first time reading about Cora and Nolan and I'm going to have to read their books now! I loved the other short story as well it left me guessing what will happen next. If you like cemeteries, dead bodies, serial killers and spice this is the book for you!

Blurb:

"Nolan and Cora, the mutual monsters, meet again after the events of Caution Tape. The ex-lovers, always-enemies engage in a graveyard tryst that tears at the edges of sanity and good taste. Cora has evolved as a killer, Nolan is jealous of her success.

It can only end badly.

*This is not a canon story and is not to be considered the sequel to Caution Tape w/Molly Doyle.
